WIND RIVER MUZZLE LOADER
NEWSLETTER
SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER
2006 |
We had our
annual two day shoot in September. Mother Nature was very kind
to us again and only provided a slight breeze which didn’t
seem to interfere with anyone’s fun. LZ put on a very fine
shotgun match on Sat. with 8 shooters gathering for fun. As
the day went on, there were a few more that showed up to play
though. I went down and watched for a while and believe me
they were all having a very good time. I would love to try it
someday but it is fun for me just to watch.
The day ended
with the following total scores:
LZ – 1st - 11pts.
Ben – 2nd - 7pts.
Dave – 3rd – 6 pts.
John H. – 4 pts.
Travis – 4pts.
Matt – 4 pts.
Gail – 3 pts.
Tom – 1 pt.
Saturday night
was a fun time with a meal being served at 6p.m. Connie and I
decided that since everyone has done so much for the club over
the years and we are both late bloomers in the organization
that we would do all of the cooking and just let everyone else
relax for once and enjoy themselves without the hustle and
bustle of trying to prepare food. The club paid for
everything, all we did was cook, which is something that we
have both always enjoyed and don’t get to do very often since
most of our families live away from us. So, we fired up the
big grill and cooked hamburgers and hot dogs for anyone who
wanted to show up. I don’t remember for sure but there was
somewhere around 50 hungry people there. We put together some
salads, (potato, coleslaw, the usual) got some chips, pop,
beer, made some brownies and cookies and called it good.
Everyone was very appreciative and seemed to have a good time.
We brought the leftovers on Sunday and grilled a few more
burgers and hot dogs and it all got pretty well cleaned up. We
would like to think everyone for their help, praise, and good
appetites. We had a lot of fun doing this and hopefully the
club will let us do it again.
Sunday
we had our annual Grudge Match with Big Horn Basin Muzzle
Loaders. We would like to thank them for coming over and
participating. We weren’t sure it was going to come together
this year but in the end it did and it seemed like everyone
had a great time. 6 guys from BHB and 9 from WRML drove out to
shoot. They started the day by having 5 paper targets , two at
25yds, two at 50yds, and one at 100yds. and then moved on to
the primitive lines. HeWho and Rockslayer put together some
fine primitive matches for the day. I heard a little grumbling
“at the fort” but everyone left smiling so it wasn’t too bad.
There wasn’t any certain order for the day, just so long as
you shot all the targets by the end of the day. Then, we
tallied up the scores, came up with aggregates for everyone,
took the top 5 scores from each club and they were the ones
that got put into the final totals. I helped Dave and John
with the scoring and saw some pretty impressive scores come
across. I would have to say that most everyone was having a
very fine day
The day ended
with the final scores:
BHBML top 5 scores:
Mike Chapin - 198xxx
LyLe Bader - 186xxx
Nick Bader - 183xx
Willie Felton - 182xx
Bill Morrison - 178
(Charlie with a close 175xxx)
Combined Total - - - - - 927 - 10x
WRMLA top 5 scores:
Mike D. - 212x
Rabbit - 203xxx
George - 197
Gary - 194xxx
Bill R. - 190
Combined Total - - - - - - 996 - 6x
So, WRMLA has won
the bragging rights for the 2006 Grudge Match and look forward
to the 2007 match. Great shooting by everyone! Glad you are
all on our side! |
